East Surrey District Scouts’ St George’s Day Parade will take place in Oxted, with the service taking place in the main hall at Oxted School on Sunday 23rd April
Drop off BEFORE 1345 hrs At the car park of the Tandridge District Council offices on Gresham Road in Oxted, Young people should be told to gather in full and smart uniform, ironed scarf and school shoes. Unless it is raining or unseasonably cold, we would be expecting Explorers, Scouts and hopefully Cubs too to be in shirtsleeves, i.e without coats. (Beavers perhaps not – at the discretion of their leaders and parents). All Sections should bring all their formal Colours as usual.
Parade will start out at 1400 hrs. Parade will be called to order by the District Chairman Murrae Hume, and I will then brief the District quickly. The young people will then parade from the Council offices to Oxted School, We would expect that this to take 30-35 minutes from setting off to the last young people being sat down in the school hall. Rolling road closures and arrangements for traffic management have been made.
As usual, Colour parties will remain outside and then process in with due ceremony as the service begins. There will be a short service including awards and renewal of Promise for all. It will be led by the vicar of Lingfield, the Reverend Katherine Percival.
Pick up 1600 hrs at Oxted School. We may require a one-way system with parents coming in via Bluehouse Lane and leaving via Park Road
